COVID-19: San Francisco Emergency Dental Services
Text COVID19SF to 888-777 for official SFDPH updates.
The City and County of San Francisco is requiring people to stay home except for essential needs. At this time, many San Francisco dental offices may be closed. Please view the resource sheet below for open dental clinics. Please note that some clinics are only open for URGENT EMERGENCY dental services.
As a reminder, dental emergencies should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine the appropriate and necessary timing of in-person treatment. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is currently directing dentists to suspend providing dental care except in emergencies to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Likewise, the California Dental Association's (CDA) recommendation does not limit dentists from seeing patients that they determine to have a condition needing emergency dental care. The American Dental Association (ADA) has also developed guidance on dental care, which includes a list of treatments that dentists should still provide, on a case-by-case basis.
The California Department of Public (CDPH) is also developing dental office reopening guidelines. This means that, pending CDPH guidance, consumers may be able to access previously cancelled/postponed treatments, preventive services, routine dental services, among other services. CDPH has created a guidance for resuming deferred and preventive dental care.
